Bioneers has been invited back to Europe for a joint conference in June 2016!
The event will take place in the Basque Country from June 24-26, 2016, Friday evening through Sunday. We will lead a couple of days of tours of projects in the region afterwards. Stay tuned for more information in the coming months.
The event is being sponsored by the Basque government, the City Hall of Donostia-San Sebastián and other public and private foundations, and will take place in this beautiful city on the Atlantic, in the center of the Bay of Biscay, famed for its gastronomy and local food culture, in an excellent venue. We will merge 6-8 Bioneers speakers from the US with speakers from Spain and Europe.
We plan to take a couple of days after the event to tour projects in the region, which includes the famed Mondragon Cooperatives, the largest —in many ways the most advanced—coop economy in the world.
The Basque country has long been one of the most dynamic and innovative regions, politically and artistically, in Europe, with a unique culture deeply rooted in nature.
Spain is currently a highly interesting socio-political environment, home to many new grassroots creative progressive initiatives, that are challenging the old rules of politics and economics.
This trip will give us the chance to get a close look at the fascinating and potentially game-changing transformations rousing this beautiful country, and to meet some of the key players leading those changes.
We thank our old friend Pedro Barbadillo, who has put it all together, in collaboration with Symbiolab and the College of Civil Engineers of the Basque Country. Pedro is an esteemed Spanish activist filmmaker who has attended Bioneers many times and who sponsored a five-city tour in 2007 with Kenny and Nina shortly after the release of Leonardo DiCaprio’s movie “The Eleventh Hour” in which Bioneers and Kenny played a key role.
If you want to get on the list of people interested to join Kenny, Nina and some of our team for this amazing Kinship event, please contact Branden Barber: firstname.lastname@example.org or 415-660-9301.
And be sure to save the dates for the next National Bioneers Conference in San Rafael, CA, October 21-23, 2016!
