The Bioneers Communications and Marketing intern will assist the Communications and Marketing team from May-July, 2019. Under the supervision and mentorship of the Senior Director of Programs and Research and Radio and Media Producer, the Intern will assist with projects related to department goals to increase public awareness of Bioneers media and yearly conference, and outreach to radio stations and reporters. The hourly rate for the internship is $17.00 per hour. Other non-monetary benefits are described below.
Task, duties and responsibilities
Responsibilities primarily include assisting the Communications & Marketing team in the following areas: Radio and podcast production and promotion; radio station relations; comms-related web page/platform updates; and press relations.
The Bioneers Marketing and Communications Intern will receive training and mentorship to increase skills in communications and marketing, audio production, and wordpress basics. Through this opportunity, the intern will deepen their knowledge of the issues Bioneers focuses on, their communication skills will improve, and they will learn software, approaches and techniques to hone their skills.

Communications & Marketing Department Staff
Teo Grossman – Teo completed his graduate work at the Bren School of Environmental Science & Management at UC-Santa Barbara. He partnered with Conservation International during his masters thesis project, helping to develop a methodology for assessing the economic benefits of ecosystem-based adaptation efforts. The Doris Duke Conservation Fellowship funded his graduate education and he remains part of this national network of young conservation leaders.
Bioneers’ interdisciplinary approach is in line with Teo’s professional goals and experience. Over his career, Teo has engaged in diverse efforts including managing youth and educator outreach efforts, conducting state-level assessments of long-range planning efforts, and lead research on topics including climate change adaptation, ecosystem services and ecological networks. Combining a clear-eyed approach to problem solving with a knack for identifying cutting edge trends and approaches, his career goal is to work towards the healthy integration of natural systems and human communities at multiple scales.
Stephanie Welch – Stephanie Welch has produced the Bioneers Radio Series for 16 years, and has worked in radio and film since 1996. She directed and co-wrote the award-winning documentary film, “A Dangerous Idea”, released in 2018. She also co-produced the radio documentary “Biowars”, which won an NFCB Silver Reel Award.
