We have made the difficult decision not to produce an annual conference in 2027.
This is part of a strategic plan for restructuring and reorganization as we work to shore up our financial sustainability amid real strain in the nonprofit sector. Like so many nonprofits right now, we’re contending with a political climate that puts our funding, our protections, and our very mission under pressure. We are navigating this collaboratively—staying visionary and solutions-focused, as always.
From within this season of change, our media production and core programming continues to move forward. We invite you to stay connected:
- Sign up for our ongoing Indigenizing the Law Bioneers Learning course, featuring Indigeneity Special Programs Coordinator Britt Gondolfi and special guests Frank Bibeau, Samantha Skenandore, and others. Indigenizing the Law officially started on Wednesday, September 2nd, but all late registrants will have access to previously recorded content and assets shared during the initial classes.

- Watch for opportunities to support our cross-cultural Indigenous Rights of Nature Intertribal Gathering, which will feature and serve our visionary Young Leaders and Native Youth Ambassadors. This will celebrate both 25 years of Youth Leadership and 10 years of Intercultural Conversations through Bioneers.

We are still exploring potentialities and possibilities for a 2028 conference. Stay connected—if a 2028 conference is on the horizon, we will make an announcement by April 2027 and begin accepting proposals.
Most importantly: we need you—our community—as we embark on this season of change. For decades, Bioneers has never accepted any government or corporate funding. Our organization’s mission has always been to disseminate promising initiatives to the widest possible audience, relying on the generosity of an extraordinary ecosystem of visionary donors and partners. Functioning without an endowment, we have been able to raise these funds year-after-year.
However, we all know that the present moment is an extremely difficult period for progressive organizations and projects. If news of 2027’s conference cancellation has had an impact on you, if you’ve been transformed by our many areas of influence—in-person gatherings, newsletters, radio shows, online courses, a person or an idea you’ve encountered through Bioneers offerings—this is the moment to invest in this co-creation with us. As we consider what our future together might nourish and grow, we invite you to help seed the field of our new arrival.
