How Can I Find Out More Information on...

I listen to the Bioneer Radio series via the internet on KEXP in Seattle. Sometime within the past several months I heard a show which featured a guest who was a natural food chef who got a middle school in Berkley CA interested in startig its own garden. Apparently the science and math classes used the effort as a supplement to its instruction and the food stuffs were used in the school cafeteria to supplement the menu.

Health and Wellness in Hawaii

Aloha Nui from the Big I,

As many of you are tracking the systems change that is evident in all of our worlds, we are witnessing the re-vitalization of our Global Communities.

Health and Wellness! A statement that many of us have only compared to our individual Body, Mind and Spirit. As we progress into the community thought paradigm and realize the potential of collective conciousness, we are given the opportunity to focus Health and Healing into the collective of our communities.

Genetic preservation in the private sector

I have struggled for years to promote preservation of captive genetics and hydrogen fuel cells. I am glad to see a lot of activity and progress on the hydrogen matter. I am still not seeing much action on the preservation of captive genetic stocks.

OUR HEALTH AND THE ENVIRONMENT… MAKE THE CONNECTION

OUR HEALTH AND THE ENVIRONMENT… MAKE THE CONNECTION
by Gloria Treister, CEO/Founder
Wellness Evolution

We live in a highly chemical world and the effects of chemical substances on our bodies are continually being investigated. While technology and industry have helped us to live more comfortably, we are paying a heavy price. We are the first generation of humans to be exposed to so many synthetic chemicals.

Looking for Communities at Bioneers

My girlfriend and I are hoping to meet people at Bioneers who are either living in existing Eco-communities (for want of a better term) or who are looking for people to build such a community with.

DECLARATION OF DEPENDENCE
In Paonia, Colorado, the United States of America, on Earth;
this twenty-first day of September, 2005.

A DECLARATION FOR HUMAN SURVIVAL

When, in the course of human events, it becomes apparent that the activities of humankind are causing severe and potentially catastrophic injury to the land, air and water that compose our home - the Earth - it becomes necessary to declare humanity’s innate Dependence on Earth, and demand that governments take immediate action to redress such harmful acts and make elemental changes to prevent further injury. Such declaration requires the causes that impel such demands be set forth.

Bioneers Use of Paper...

The program for the current Bioneer's conference is about 92 pages long, with glossy covers and color printing. I have no idea how many copies were printed, several thousand at least. I attended the satellite TV session in Taos and although I could not attend all the sessions, I cannot begin to count the number of times we were told that the "corporate paper companies" were responsible for the loss of countless trees used to make paper, for us. I urge the management of Bioneers to consider a less paper intensive program so that we save some of the remaining trees that were mentioned so many times in the conference. I suggest that it is the customers and paper consumers that are ultimately responsible for the loss of the trees that get cut down for paper products. Even if the program was printed on "re-cycled" paper, it added to the collective use of paper which leads to the loss of the trees Bioneers seek to save.

Feedback from Sunday

I am very uncomfortable relating this to all of you. It is my nature as a recovering person to feel that way. Secrets are a way of life for any active addict (I even am uncomfortable using this noun because there will be some who make judgements about that 'type' of person).

ASTONISHING

I just arrived home from my first Bioneers in San Rafael. I'm nearly sixty. As a leadership consultant and life coach, I've been to a lot of conferences and conventions. This was a unique and ASTONISHING experience. The weaving together of so many perspectives into a single tapistry was ASTONISHING--young, middle-aged and elder, white, black, brown and yellow, first peoples and immigrants, science, religion, mythology, poetry, dance...new and old wisdoms. The level of openness, consciousness and conscience was ASTONISHING. It was almost too much to bear...like sunlight refracting through a thousand different colored crystals. With so much to process at the end of each day, it was difficult to sleep each night...but I've never been so willing to give up my normal comfortable patterns to receive such an ASTONISHING infusion of knowledge,

Clearcut Canadian Catalogs

I just got back from attending one of the beaming Bioneers conference in Detroit MI and my heart is filled with yes, HOPE and gratitude. Anyway, I picked up my mail and found a catalog printed in glossy paper that wasn't recycled. Armed with the information about how the Canadian Boreal forest is being clearcut to produce these cataloges I immediately picked up the phone called the company and had our address taken off the list. In hind sight I really should have explained to the person on the other line about why. I wonder how many Bioneers are receiving these catalogs? Anyway, the conference made me not delay one moment to make that call and it was done in less that 30 seconds.

Bioneers breakfst--seeking info about person offering project software

I was at the Bioneers Breakfast on Sunday 10/22 (in San Rafael)--at the end, when people were going up to the mic., someone named Paul (I think) was offering project software. I've lost/can't remember his info. Can anyone provide it to me? Thanks.

Bay Area Bioneers

One of the greatest successes of the Bioneers Conference is its ability to motivate action and provide direction for how to take the amazing inspiration of the weekend into the entire year. The most revolutionary and exciting parts of this year's conference for me for those having to do with local movements and self-governance. The concepts embodied in Democracy Schools (Thomas Linzey), Salmon Nation (Spencer Beebee and Paul Hawkin), organization by watershed (Brock Dolman), and local food and economy (Michael Pollan) provide the foundation for us to envision and then MANIFEST the real change that so many of us are yearning for (i.e., the change that will allow a future for human beings on this planet). So this is a call to my local Bioneers community: Let's continue the discussion, and create the action. Let's explore how to weave these ideas together on practical terms and bring them to our broader communities. Please post here if you are interested in being a part of this work. I look forward to meeting with others face to face once there is enough interest identified here...

looking for spiritual/holistic retreat site in southern California

I would appreciate recommendations for retreat sites where I can lead my own program. Close to an airport would be preferrable just for ease of travel for participants. Perfer southern CA so could include warm weather but open to all suggestions.

Help finding nutrition-centered Public Health program

I am having trouble finding a science-light Public Health graduate program with an emphasis on nutrition/food policy. Is this because one must be biology and chemistry savvy to pursue a career in public health? I hope not. What I am most interested in is community nutrition education perhaps I am looking into the wrong type of program.
