What We’re Looking For

We are currently accepting submissions in the following categories:

  1. Outdoor Performances
Dynamic, engaging, large scale performances outside Zellerbach Hall. All disciplines welcome. Past examples include a parade of giant puppets and participatory Samba dancing.
  2. Indoor Installations & Sculptures
Socially engaged visual art to be featured inside Zellerbach Hall and The Marsh Theater—designed to activate, enliven, and transform the space. Important notes about the space limitations: Zellerbach Hall does not have wall-hanging space, so all displays must be freestanding or on easels/ display stands (tables are available). For the Marsh Theater, we are especially looking for large high-contrast banners, self-lighting displays, or pieces that can be viewed in low lighting. Some wall space is available, as well as spaces for freestanding pieces or installations. Photos of the Marsh can be found here.
  3. Indoor Performances & Workshops
We are curating a vibrant series of performances and participatory workshops inside The Marsh Theater, focused on healing, storytelling, justice, creativity, and collective liberation. Multidisciplinary artists, educators, and facilitators are encouraged to apply. Workshops and performances must be low tech, no longer than 75 minutes, and able to set up/ tear down in under 30 minutes. Photos and information about the venue can be found here and here.
  4. Outdoor Community Projects
Collaborative projects such as community murals, mandalas, sewing circles, and other interactive offerings that will take place outside on Allston Way, which will be closed to traffic.
  5. Fashion show
We are seeking local eco-friendly designers (professional or amateur) as well as volunteer models to put on a fashion show! Do you use recycled materials to make unique clothes or have an eco-friendly/ethical brand? You don’t need to be an established fashion designer to come show them off at the conference! Please make sure to send photos of the clothes in your application, and let us know if you are interested in modeling them yourself. If you are interested in modeling, please send a full body image so we can match you with the right clothes. All shapes and sizes welcome! Please note that modeling is a volunteer opportunity and is unpaid.
