Ecological Design

There are sophisticated ways of designing technologies, vehicles, cities and other aspects of the human enterprise so that they intelligently interact with living systems rather than seeking to “dominate” the natural world.

This new school of thought has been the driving force behind innovations like biomimicry, green building and renewable energy. These approaches are more resilient, efficient and affordable than mainstream design norms—and they’re starting to catch on.

Repairing Relationships, Healing the Land and Feeding People

Benjamin Fahrer is the Director of Agroecology and Land Stewardship for the Deep Medicine Circle, an organization dedicated to healing the wounds of colonialism through food, medicine, restoration and learning. He is also the founder of Top Leaf Farms, which designs and builds innovative, ecological rooftop farming systems. He views farming as a vehicle to advance racial, climate, health and economic justice goals.
