Humans process information through narrative. The media holds a profound power to shape our worldviews with storytelling — one that can be manipulated by special interests, especially as the mainstream media becomes monopolized by elite corporations.
Independent media is more important now than ever. These outlets help tell stories and uplift perspectives often left untold by the mainstream media. These nonprofit outlets and independent journalists are providing a critical alternative, challenging corporate media, and carving the path toward a more equitable society.
In this program, we hear from two veteran journalists who lead two of the most courageous and successful independent media outlets in the United States: Monika Bauerlein, the CEO of Mother Jones magazine, and Amy Goodman, host and executive producer of Democracy Now!
